ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the expression and significance of regulatory T cells (Tregs), FoxP3 and transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) in different phase of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).@*METHODS@#Peripheral blood of 73 CML patients in Department of Hematology, Heze Municipal Hospital from March 2018 to March 2021 were collected. According to patient's period in CML, they were divided into ND CML group (newly diagnosed), CP CML group (chronic period), and BP CML group (blast phase). The percentage of Tregs, expression level of FoxP3 mRNA and TGF-β were detected by flow cytometry, RT-qPCR, and ELISA, respecitively. The roles of above indices in clinical pathogenesis of patients with CML were analyzed.@*RESULTS@#The proportion of Treg in the ND CML group was slightly higher than the CP CML group, but the difference was not statistically significant (P =0.695), while the BP CML group was significantly higher than the other two groups (P =0.008, P <0.001). The expression levels of FoxP3 mRNA in ND CML group, CP CML group and BP CML group were 11.61±2.21, 6.46±1.35 and 8.54±2.13, respectively. Significant difference in FoxP3 mRNA levels was observed among patients in different phases of CML (F =55.199, P <0.001). The expression levels of FoxP3 mRNA both in ND CML group and BP CML group were significantly higher than that in CP CML group (P <0.001), and the ND CML group was the highest (P <0.001). However, the expression levels of TGF-β in different phases of CML showed no statistical differences (H =0.634, P =0.728).@*CONCLUSION@#The abnormal distribution of Treg subset in different phases of CML and the significant increase of the expression level of FoxP3 mRNA in the new onset and blast phase of CML suggest that Tregs may promote the occurrence and progression of CML through immune regulation.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To measure the displacement parameters of femoral head in space through three-dimensional reconstruction so as to reunderstand undisplaced femoral neck fractures.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The clinical data of 80 undisplaced femoral neck fractures from January 2010 to June 2011 were selected, included Garden I 40 cases (group Garden I) and Garden II 40 cases (group Garden II), bilateral proximal femurs of everyone were scanned by CT and reconstructed by professional software. Registered the normal femur and fracture with mirror model, marked key points in the model and measured the displacement parameters of femoral head. The measurement accuracy of distance and angle were 0.01 mm and 0.01°, respectively. The parameters of femoral head displacement between group Garden I and Garden II were analyzed by independent-sample t-test.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Eighty cases on X-ray films were not found rotated displacement. But 24 cases of them (30.0%) showed rotated displacement and rotation direction of the femoral head through three-dimensional reconstruction. Ten cases showed incomplete fractures on X-ray films, but only 3 cases were incomplete fractures with three-dimensional reconstruction. In group Garden I, the femoral head displacement angle was 18° ± 11°, the average displacement distance of femoral head center and deepest point of fovea capitis were (6 ± 3) mm and (10 ± 6) mm respectively. In group Garden II, the femoral head displacement angle was 17° ± 10°, the average displacement distance of femoral head center and deepest point of fovea capitis were (7 ± 5) mm and (13 ± 8) mm respectively. There were not statistical significance of the parameters of femoral head displacement between group Garden I and Garden II (P > 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Three-dimensional reconstruction and digital measurement is a precise, efficient method for the measurement of femoral head displacement parameters in femoral neck fractures, has important clinical significance in the diagnosis and treatment of the femoral neck fractures. There are certain defects and limitations of the classical Garden classification for undisplaced femoral neck fractures.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the imaging feature of primary malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the bone (PBMFH) by the conventional radiography, CT and MRI, and to evaluate these different imaging methods in its diagnosis.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The imaging data of conventional radiography, CT and MRI of 35 patients with pathologically confirmed PBMFH were retrospectively analyzed.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Though the imaging appearance of PBMFH varied in different cases, all the imaging findings of malignant bone tumors were revealed. The common imaging appearance on the conventional radiography and CT were eccentric, aggressive, osteolytic destructions of various types located at the ends of extremities with extraosseous soft tissue masses, but periosteal reaction was rare. Heterogeneous signal intensities on T(1)WI and T(2)WI were common MRI changes but not specific.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Primary malignant bone fibrous histiocytoma, a rare primary malignant bone tumor, is most frequently located in the long bone. Conventional radiography is still the first and main choice and is taken as an essential means of diagnosis. CT and MRI are quite important in demonstrating the details and extent of the disease such as soft tissue, cortical destruction, periosteal reaction, calcification and necrosis. The imaging characteristics may be of value in differentiating MFH from the other malignant bone tumors. Furthermore, MRI may also be valuable in assessing the efficacy of chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy, as well as in distinguishing recurrence from postoperative or post-radiation changes.</p>
